I know you all must wonder what we're doing over here. Dan has been down in Virginia working on that O-Scale Comet model. Currently the plan is to offer a stained natural wood kit as our standard model, and what you see in this picture is a deluxe model painted white. This thing looks really really good. Hopefully we can have some better pictures for you all at the end of the week.

First we were on an episode of House, and now we are on Ace of Cakes 100th episode!

Duff and friends recently built a cake for Kings Dominion and they took apart a Phoenix model to use on their cake. They did a great job and the cake was a hit when Intimidator 305 opened in April. Here is a screenshot of them working on the cake:

Just a quick picture of a Lego coaster built for Brickworld 2010. We went out there to help make sure it worked (and to see some cool Lego stuff!!).

Here is a video of the coaster in action!!

Anyway, we should be able to get some better pictures at some point.

N-Scale Comet?! PDF Print E-mail

I know, you all have been waiting for the Sidewinder to come out. The price point for that is great for those who may not be able to get a Phoenix quite yet. The guys at CoasterDynamix felt bad for the wood coaster lovers out there, so we decided to come up with something a bit less expensive, but still really really cool! I present to you, an N-Scale Comet!

Price has not been set quite yet, but think in the ballpark of the Sidewinder (Somewhere around $30). Fits in the palm of your hand!

This model should be available within a month or so!

Kings Dominion Fun PDF Print E-mail

I know you must think working at CoasterDynamix is often boring and no fun at all, but occasionally we are able to crawl out of our desks and do some fun stuff. Over the past weekend, Dan and Jack went out to Kings Dominion to fix up their custom model (in the gift shop), and take a couple trips on the new Intimidator 305 ride. Both of us blacked out, but from what we hear, that is not uncommon. Here are some pics from our trip:

Jack is crawling around, cleaning rails, pushing in tubes. The model was in surprisingly good shape! A quick clean of the track and train and it was back in action.

Looking good from the outside:

And of course, it happened to be Media Day:

One cool thing we were only kind of expecting was that Charm City Cakes was there! Duff had made a cake for the event and guess what was the centerpiece... a CoasterDynamix model! It ran the whole time and drew quite a crowd. Very cool stuff. We did not get to meet Duff unfortunately.

While we were in the area, we decided to make a stop by Busch Gardens Europe to do some maintenance on one of the Griffon displays they have. As always, tons of people crowd around as we're trying to solder wires and fix things.

The next day we went back to Kings Dominion for Opening Day. I personally loved Dominator, so here's a cool shot of it:

It was a fun weekend! More fun stuff to come in the future.
